Can fashion be a powerful force for positive change?

In this public event, professor Lorenzo Cantoni, Director of the Master in Digital Fashion Communication at USI, will interview Marina Spadafora, renowned fashion designer, sustainability advocate, and Country Coordinator of Fashion Revolution Italy.

Under the title “Fashion with a Mission” the conversation will explore how fashion can combine creativity, innovation, and aesthetics with environmental and social responsibility. Drawing on Spadafora’s extensive international experience, the discussion will address the challenges and opportunities of building a more ethical, transparent, and sustainable fashion industry.

Particular attention will be given to the role of communication in promoting meaningful change, raising awareness, and inspiring more conscious choices. Especially conceived for students of the Master in Digital Fashion Communication, the event is open to the wider public and offers a valuable opportunity to reflect on the role of fashion in shaping a more responsible future.

Marina Spadafora is an internationally recognized fashion designer, author, educator, and advocate for ethical and sustainable fashion. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with prestigious fashion houses, including Ferragamo, Prada, Miu Miu, and Marni. As Country Coordinator of Fashion Revolution Italy, she promotes transparency, social responsibility, and sustainability within the fashion industry. 

Lorenzo Cantoni is Full Professor at USI – Università della Svizzera italiana, where he directs the Institute of Digital Technologies for Communication and the Master in Digital Fashion Communication, offered in collaboration with Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. His research focuses on the intersection of communication, digital technologies, and education, with particular interests in digital fashion and tourism.
